Age 83, of Elliott, peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Beloved husband of the love of his life, the late Gertrude "Trudy" Hoover; loving father of Annette (Matt) Schwartzmiller, Joseph (Nancy), John (JoAnn), Deborah (Frank) Sappie, Richard (Lisa) and Christine (Patrick) Yaworski; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother of Mary Lou Sklarsky, Charlotte Troutman, carol Laskowski, Cindy Lada and the late Duane Hoover. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was proud to wear his IBEW hat and jacket and was past President of Local #142. He was involved with his church, active in his community and the local democratic party in the 20th ward. Bill remembered his grass roots growing up in Ebensberg, PA and looked forward to the Morgan T. Hoover reunion every year. The family extends their thanks and appreciation to his care takers Sue and Patrick. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. TUESDAY ONLY. American Legion Post 145 Memorial Service at 6 p.m. at ANTHONY G. STAAB FUNERAL HOME, INC., 900 Chartiers Ave., Pgh., PA 15220. Mass of Christian Burial in the Ascension Worship Site of St. Philip Parish on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Interment in St. Martin Cemetery with full military honors.
