Having celebrated 100 years of age on Monday, December 4, Sister Mary Salvatore went to her eternal reward on Saturday, December 9, 2017. Sister Mary Salvatore was born in Millvale, and baptized Amelia Carmela at St. Mary's Church in Glenshaw, PA. She entered the Sisters of Divine Providence on August 30, 1936 and made Final Vows on August 15, 1943. For 10 years, Sister Mary Salvatore served as an Elementary teacher at schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. She ministered in nursing at St. John's General Hospital and later at Braddock Hospital for over 50 years as nurse, supervisor, instructor and I.V. nurse. Sister Mary Salvatore received her Bachelor's degree in nursing from Duquesne University and her Master's in nursing education from the University of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Mary Magnelli Leo and siblings: Joseph, Anthony, John, Lillian, Herman, Henry, Robert Leo and Loretta Gilch. Sister Mary Salvatore is survived by nieces and nephews and the Sisters of Divine Providence and their Associates. Visitation will take place at Providence Heights on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday 12-3 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 3:30 p.m. in the Mother of Divine Providence Chapel, 9000 Babcock Boulevard, Allison Park, PA 15101. Memorial contributions may be sent to Sisters of Divine Providence. Arrangements entrusted to ANTHONY G. STAAB FUNERAL HOME, INC.
