Age 94, on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, a lifelong resident of the West End, passed away in Hospice. Charlie, a veteran of World War II, served in the US Army Air Force as a waist gunner on B17 bombers with the 390th Bombardier Group 570 bomber squadron flying twenty-eight missions over Germany. Later he served with the US Air Force in the Korean Campaign, finishing his military career with the US Air Force reserves at the Greater Pittsburgh Airport. He was employed after as the manager of the US Post Office airport area. He was a lifelong member of Guardian Angels Church in the West End. Charlie is survived by his sister Irene C. Anthony and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday only at ANTHONY G. STAAB FUNERAL HOME, INC., 900 Chartiers Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Ascension Worship Site of St. Philip Parish. Interment in St. Adalbert Cemetery.
