Age 93, of McCandless Township, died Wednesday, February 14, 2018, in the 77th year of her religious life as a Sister of Divine Providence. The daughter of Ferdinand (Fred) Gezich and Anna Lukac, Sister Emily entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence from Assumption Parish in Ernest, PA. She ministered in education, both as teacher and High School Principal, and in pastoral ministry with the elderly, orphans, single mothers, and youth. Sister Emily's ministries took her to Puerto Rico, Arizona, Mexico, New Mexico, and Michigan, as well as the Pittsburgh area. Sister Emily earned her Bachelor's degree in education from Duquesne University (cum laude), and her Master's degree from New York University. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Joseph, Fred, John and Theresa Gezich, Agnes Vargo, Kathryn Levitz, Ann Kurnat (Plumb), Elizabeth Zielinski and Loretta Norman. Sister Emily is survived by nieces and nephews, and the Associates and Sisters of Divine Providence. Viewing will take place at Providence Heights on Friday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Mother of Divine Providence Chapel. Burial will follow in Providence Heights Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Sisters of Divine Providence, 9000 Babcock Boulevard, Allison Park, PA 15101.
