Condolence & Memory Journal

Sister Hilda was my 2nd grade teacher at St. Mary's School in Herman, PA. I remember on my first day of school I thought she looked rather stern and a little scary. I started to cry and when she asked me why I was crying, I said I was afraid I would do something wrong and that she would yell at me. She laughingly said something like, well don't cry before I do! She turned out to be a wonderful teacher and I ended up liking her very much! May she rest in peace!

Sister Hilda was my 1st grade teacher at St. Mary Elementary School, Herman, in 1967. I can still recall letting go of my older sister's hand and walking in to the classroom on the first day of school. I was greeted by Sister and her wonderful smile. It may have been the full habit but I thought she was an elderly woman. Now I realize she was only 37 years old . . . the same age as my mom. Last Sunday, Trinity Sunday, Fr. Harry Bielewicz, our pastor, asked the congregation to think about who taught us to make the sign of the cross. I thought that Sister Hilda would have showed me how to do that as we began each morning with a prayer. May God Bless her with peace.

I always remember when Sister Hilda would come swimming up Mom & Dads with her other Sisters and my sister and I would swim with them. Rest in Peace Sister Hilda.
Love you,
Nancy (Simoncic) & Jeff Lindo

Candle

You were the keeper of the family history and now you are with your sisters. We will miss you immensely. You served the Lord and now you are surely with him and at peace.
