Age 86, of McCandless Township, on Friday, June 9, 2017. Sister Hilda was born on July 1, 1930 and baptized Theresa Louise at St. Alphonsus Church in Springdale, PA. She entered the Sisters of Divine Providence on January 19, 1958 and professed her final vows on August 15, 1965. Sister Hilda earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from La Roche College and taught in several elementary schools in the Pittsburgh Diocese. Her longest assignments were at St. Mary's in Herman, PA (1962-69), and Providence Heights Alpha School from 1986 until her retirement in 2000, where she enjoyed teaching the "little ones" in first and second grade. Sister Hilda also spent time in Rome, Italy, in the residence of Cardinal John Wright as housekeeper. After her retirement, Sister Hilda ministered in prayer and community service. She was the youngest of eight children of Edward Prohaska and Hilda Gustavason, and is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Edward Prohaska, Julia Miller, Francis Mooney, Charles Mooney, Dolores Smith, Irma Bombik and Elizabeth Yanni. Surviving are many nieces and nephews, and the Sisters and Associates of Divine Providence. Friends will be received at Providence Heights on Monday, June 12, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. with a Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. On Tuesday, June 13, there will be viewing from noon – 3:00 p.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 4:00 p.m. in Mother of Divine Providence Chapel, 9000 Babcock Boulevard, Allison Park, PA 15101.
